Summary of Job Profile
Orbia’s Senior Legal Counsel India is an experienced lawyer, responsible for providing coordinated, consistent, effective and efficient legal, transactional and corporate secretary support to all Orbia businesses in India. Legal responsibilities include, but are not restricted to restructuring, M&A, litigation and contract support.
Legal Responsibilities
Identify, prioritize and manage legal risks while serving as a member of Orbia’s India management team. Serve as a trusted advisor to Orbia’s businesses in India and help them achieve their objectives in accordance with the highest legal standards. Analyze legal implications of various issues and advise internal stakeholders and business management teams
Work closely with the members of the Orbia Legal Department supporting Orbia’s businesses in India in order to identify and prioritize legal risks, harmonize approaches to managing legal risks, coordinate and optimize the delivery of legal services and standardize tools and risk mitigation strategies
Drafting, vetting of complaints, appeals & supporting the company teams with legal processes, as may be needed from time to time
Ensuring implementation of healthy governance practices and adherence to the highest compliance and governance standards
Appointing, instructing and overseeing the work of external counsel as necessary and appropriate, and ensuring that they are performing according to relevant budget and other expectations. Standardize legal engagements and drive efficiencies with preferred providers
Corporate Secretarial/Entity Management
Driving consistency in compliance performance across Orbia businesses, engaging with global teams to help instill global best practices based on the India context
Ensuring implementation of healthy governance practices and adherence to the highest compliance and governance standards
Skills
Exceptional problem-solving skills, excellent judgment, strategic thinking and business acumen, with keen attention to detail. Ability to quickly analyze and propose a course of action
Strong ability to persuade, lead and encourage collaboration across legal and multidisciplinary teams
A track-record of operating with an MNC mindset, and the ability to work effectively with people across all levels, cultures, and geographies to build cross-functional relationships in a global, decentralized setting
Executive presence, including excellent written and presentation skills; tactful and sensitive to diverse cultural norms and ways of communicating
Independent and a self-starter, energized by a wide scope of responsibilities, open to possibilities, and a proactive, can-do attitude
Able to work on multi-disciplinary teams and to lead and persuade
Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, focusing on critical priorities in a fast paced, and at times, high stress work environment
Strong work ethic and ability to produce high quality work under deadline pressures
Highest standards of integrity in conduct and confidentiality
Required Qualifications:
10-12 years minimum, with at least 7-10 years hands on experience in transactional, secretarial and commercial matters for diverse manufacturing or EPC businesses. Experience in a listed global multinational is a plus
A license to practice law in India, with strong academic credentials
Excellent verbal and written English
